
Bus Tours
Our popular, family-friendly bus tours are led by a knowledgeable local guide. You will visit documented Underground Railroad sites, historic homes and Quaker Meetinghouses while learning about local abolitionists and anti-slavery activity in the Kennett Square area. The tour also presents the contributions of local African Americans and their faith communities in the quest for freedom from slavery

Please be aware, our tours begin at the Kennett Heritage Center,
120 North Union Street, Kennett Square, PA. at 1:00 P.M. Please try to come a little early so we can check you in.
(We are no longer able to start our tours at the Brandywine Valley Tourist Center.)

The dates for our tours are listed below. With the exception of April, they are all on the third Sunday of the month. Tours will depart from the Kennett Heritage Center, 120 N. Union Street, Kennett Square, PA. (see map above for directions) at 1:00 pm. The tours last approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes. The cost of the tour is $25.00 per person. We look forward to showing you the area and sharing our stories of abolitionists and freedom seekers!

Special Expanded Underground Railroad Bus Tour
This tour leaves from Winterthur!
Join Dr. Jonathan Michael Square, the guest curator of Almost Unknown: The Afric-American Picture Gallery at Winterthur, and two guides from the Kennett Underground Railroad Center as we follow the route of many freedom seekers on their trek to freedom in Pennsylvania. Leaving from Winterthur, you will travel up RT 52 and cross the line into Chester County, Pennsylvania, the “hotbed of abolition”.​
