The mission of the Kennett Underground Railroad Center (KURC) is to preserve and celebrate the heritage and engage the public about the historic abolitionists, Underground Railroad agents, and freedom-seekers of this area and beyond.
Some of KURC's goals are:

-
To educate the public about the historic struggle of freedom seekers, abolitionists, conductors, and stationmasters.
-
To bear witness to the values that challenged and ultimately caused an end to slavery in America.
-
To celebrate the oneness of the human spirit in the ongoing quest for freedom around the world.
-
To interpret and preserve the unique local heritage for future generations through tours, public speaking, re-enactments, published works, and eventually a learning center.
-
To identify buildings recognized as stations on the Underground Railroad and encourage and assist the owners to gain recognition of these sites on a local, state, or national level.

OUR MISSION
Become a Friend of the
Kennett Underground Railroad Center!
We are starting our next 25 years!

Now, more than ever, we need your support! In the coming year, we will be expanding our tour and presentation offerings, creating a program to capture the interest and attention of school students, work with the Kennett Library, as well as reaching out to the public to share the exciting history that is all around the Kennett area. KURC depends on volunteer efforts and private donations to fulfill its mission, as well as to cover operating expenses.

Please help by becoming a Friend of KURC. As a Friend, you will enjoy invitations to lectures, tours, and other programs. You will also have the satisfaction of knowing that compelling stories from American history will have an impact on people today and for generations to come.

With appreciation and in friendship,
KURC Board of Directors
