Davy Augustus

African American Abolitionist

Davy Augustus

Davy Augustus was a go between for freedom seekers in Wilmington who were trying to go to Kennett Square. He used a food cart to transport people as it would make it easier for him to stop anywhere to pick up or drop off freedom seekers.
Perry Augustus is thought to be Davy’s father. He helped take freedom seekers from Wilmington and is known to have delivered them to Underground stations in New Garden.
